Mushroom Filled Double Pinwheels

Ingredients

  • 5 Tbs. butter
  • 18 oz fresh mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 2 tbs. flour
  • 1 ½ tea thyme
  • ½ tea salt
  • ¼ tea pepper
  • 1 tea lemon juice
  • 1 ½ packages (24 oz each) frozen puff pastry sheets thawed according to package
  • 1 egg lightly beaten with 1 tbs. water

Steps

  1. Heat butter in a large skillet, add mushrooms and onions cook till liquid evaporates.
  2. Stir in flour, thyme and salt, cook 2 minutes or until thicken.
  3. Unfold pastry sheets on floured board. Spread 1/3 mixture over first sheet of pastry, roll up tightly, cover and chill for 1 hour. Repeat with last two sheets.
  4. Cut chilled rolls into ¼ inch slices (about 32), place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet, baste with egg wash.
  5. Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes.
